A tulou is a traditional communal residence in the Fujian province of Southern China, usually of a circular configuration surrounding a central shrine, according to Wikipedia. Tulou is the world’s material and cultural heritage. Tulou with adobe as the main material, mixed with lime, fine sand, glutinous rice, brown sugar, bamboo chips, batten and so on. After repeated rubbing, ground pressure, Ramming, Tulou was built. It has lots of characters, such as protection against burglars, shake-proof, protection against the tide and warm in winter and cool in summer.
The famous Fujian Tulou, designated as UNESCO world heritage list in July 2008, is a small and specialized subgroup of tulou, and are known for their unique shape, large scale, and ingenious structure. Fujian tulou were built in Song dynasty, and Ming and Qing dynasties gradually mature until now. Nanjing tulou were located in Zhangzhou city Nanjing, Huaan, Pinghe, Zhaoan, Yunxiao and so on. They with long history, numerous quantity, grand scale and unique style are known as “the mythical mountain building”.
Thousands of Nanjing tulou called “Tulou Kingdom”. These tulou have every size and every shape. In addition to the common round and square, they also have ellipse, sector, gossip form, sleeve shape, umbrella shape and so on.
